This is the required seminar for those pursuing CDP® certification and who qualify through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. NCCDP recommends that at minimum there should be one staff member per shift who is a Certified Dementia Practitioner®.

Lisa Schilthuis

OTR/L, CDP®, CADDCT® 

Dementia care specialist, CEO of GrandMinds LLC, and lead dementia educator at Mary Free Bed at Home, where she serves as an occupational therapist. She brings over 20 years of professional experience—and more than two decades of personal insight, having closely supported her mother through her journey with dementia—to every course she teaches.

Elijah Schilthuis

MBA, CNA, CDP®, CADDCT® 

COO of GrandMinds, with over six years of experience as a CNA in assisted living facilities and currently on an inpatient psychiatric hospital unit for older adults, supporting individuals with dementia and navigating both behavioral and medical needs. He also brings a strong background in life enrichment and meaningful engagement as a life enrichment coordinator.

This 8 hour training training is offered online through Zoom with an hour of breaks provided.

The digital student handout notebook is provided. 

No form of videotaping or recording is allowed.

Students attending this virtual class must appear on camera for the duration of the class.

Seminar is approved for 7 CEUS for nurses with InsPAC for an additional $49 and information will be provided to you in class.
